Bullies in Need Fun Day!!!!

Mum, Carl, Drama and I (Kerris will be staying at Auntie Jodie's) are really looking forward to the Bullies in Need Fun Day in August this year....
We are all camping in a tent!!! Me and Drama are going to have so much fun!!! LOL!
Hope to see lots of you there!

Sorry I haven't updated for a while.........

Sorry I haven't updated my blog reccently but I have been a busy little dog....

I have been on loads of walks with Kerris and Drama and our Mum... The weather has been really nice the last few days so I have been busy catching the sunshine too!!

I have been suffering from conjunctivitus - I am prone to this because of my dry eyes.
Mum has been sponging my eyes with cold tea-bags - Not to keen on her when she does that! I've now got brown stains on my eyes but they certainly don't itch so much!

I went back to the vets yesterday - the usual check-ups and once again I have been booked in for more skin scrapings to check I am still mite free.

I am going in a month today on the 19th June.

I will be having my nails done again then too - Aaaargh! I hate that!!!

I'm a funny sleeper!!!

Had a great day today...

Mum, Carl, Drama, Kerris and me all went for a lovely long walk across the watermeadows.

I was allowed off my lead to play with two Boxer dogs... They were so much fun!! I ran around so much with them.

Kerris and Drama had to stay on their flexi leads (Ha ha!) as they are too cheeky to go offlead when other dogs are about.... I'm allowed off if my Mum knows the other dogs as when she calls and waves at me to come back I always do because I'm a good boy.

When we got back me and my sisters carried on playing in the garden... We got so dusty from rolling around in the mud my Mum has threatened to bath us later.... Grrr!!

We got really tired and Mum took a few pictures of us when we were asleep... Both me and Drama sleep in strange positions and Mum finds it really funny!!! Drama always looks like shes about to fall off the sofa and I like to get my head as comfy as possible.

Fantastic News!!!

Yesterday was St George's Day and I woke up feeling grumpy...

My Mum didn't give me any breakfast but instead took me in the car to my least favourite place the vets.

She told me my nails would be cut, my anal glands emptied and I would have more skin scrapings to check how the mites were doing.

She left me there and they gave me a little injection to make me go to sleep for a while.

I woke up feeling a bit groggy and spent the next hour wondering when Mum would come and pick me up.

She soon came to get me and had a long chat with my vet... My vet told me and my Mum that I no longer have mites!!! I don't have to have that horrible Aludex bath each week anymore.

We were so happy!!! I wagged my tail lots for my Mum to show her how pleased I was and she kept squeezing me and kissing me head.

I still need baths for my feet as they are a bit sore still but I don't mind that... Feet baths I can cope with... I just don't like being washed all over with the other stuff.

I still have to take herbs for my fur to continue to grow nicely and am still on anti-biotics for my feet but hopefully not for long now.

I got in yesterday afternoon and had a good long sleep then I woke up to find yummy chicken and macaroni cheese for tea and then spent the evening playing with Kerris, Drama and our little friend Floopie - Mummy's friends dog.

I have already been for one long walk today and am looking forward to going out in a bit to meet my new human baby cousin... She is called Poppy and was born in the early hours of Monday morning.

Well I'm certainly feeling better and more perkier today!

Whenever I felt my Mum was ignoring me today I grabbed something and made her chase me for it... I ran off with her hairbrush when she was trying to get ready this morning - She ran after me for that one! I then stood in her face powder with my muddy garden feet - Well why did she leave it on the floor? Stupid Mummy!

I also started chewing on my bed to grab her attention (she was on the Bullie Bar again) moved around her shoes- I also put my head in all the bags she brought home from work and wiped my face on everything.

When Mummy got home from work she found I had eaten her mail... She said she wasnt interested in reading bills anyway - I guess she kind of thanks me for chewing them up.

After I said hello to her I ran up and down the stairs with Drama barking happily and I ran round and round the lounge.

Mummy gave me a big hug and kiss and told me how pleased she was that I had been so cheeky!!! I guess she is so used to me sleeping lots and feeling sorry for myself that she likes seeing me so full of energy and typical bullie-ness.

She took me and Carl to the pub and we sat in the garden... Lots of people came up to me and gave me hugs and stroked my head... I also got some quavers crisps - they are my favourite.
I was wagging my tail for anyone who gave me love or crisps!!

I'm off to bed now as have had a long day... Will write again soon!!

Photos of me when my skin was really bad (bottom) and a photo of me now (top)

This is of me last week in April 2007 sunning myself in the garden. My fur has now grown back so much although i'm still having the odd flare ups of redness in my skin. My paws are still a bit sore but i'm still having the Aludex baths (unfortunately!!) each week so hopefully they will be all better by the Summer.
My nails are growing really quickly and I hate having them cut. I didnt have them cut much before I lived with my Mum and they used to grow into my pads and I hate them being touched. Because I get so stressed when I have them cut at the vets (I will not let my Mum do it) the vet has decided I need to go under anaethetic next Monday to have them cut right back. I'm not looking forward to it really.
I'll let you all know how I get on.
This is one of my Mum's favourite photos of me taken in March 2007. I was really feeling good in myself and we went on a lovely long walk together. I got so excited meeting all the dogs I was running around like any other Bull Terrier without a care in the world. My Mum cried with happiness when she watched me play and run... It was the most amount of energy she had ever seen in me.... I havent really looked back since... Mum says I get cheekier by the day!!

My face started flaring up again towards the end of February 2007 so I was back on antibiotics again. I was still very lethargic. At the beginning of March I got a sickness bug and I was very ill for just over a week and couldnt keep anything down. I lost loads of weight but that wasnt such a bad thing as had put on loads when I ill with my bad skin. When I reccovered from the bug I was more energetic and started enjoying walks more.

This is me in February 2007 borrowing my friends hat. As you can see my fur is really growing back now although i'm still very lethargic.

Me in January 2007 starting to feel so much better... Excuse the coat - it was really embarrasing as was 'baby blue' and girlie pink but I was so cold as I was very bald still and I needed the warmth.

I now have a lovely new coat from my Auntie Judy and friend Fern from the Bullie Bar. Its a nice navy blue colour and lovely and warm and doesnt make me look like a girl!

After a couple of months of being on herbal medicine and Aludex and Advocate - December 2006. I was at the Bullies in Need Christmas Party in Mablethorpe - Lincolnshire. I dressed up like a cowboy and entered the Fancy Dress competition... I won a rossette and I made loads of friends.

After a week of being on the herbal medicine from Herbaticus - October 2006

When my skin was at its worse... September 2006

Kerris and Drama

Kerris and Drama
Kerris has lived with my Mum since she was about 18 months old... My Mum rescued her and has loved her ever since. She is now about 14. My Mum was told she was a German Shepherd X Collie X Jack Russel Terrier. She is quite small and is still very lively for her age. Her nickname is Noo-Noo because she eats crumbs from the floor like the hoover in Teletubbies!
Drama is approximately 18 months old as is a Bull Terrier like me. My Mum was supposed to only be fostering her for Bullies in Need but we loved her so much we decided she should stay with us. She moved in before Christmas 2006 and has had fun wrecking our house and my toys ever since!!
Drama and Kerris follow each other around everywhere chasing each other about, whereas I preffer to snuggle up with my Mum.

Some reccent photos of me The Bruggie-Monster!

The last few days have been so sunny so we've been lazing about in the garden... We've been helping our Mum to dig up the garden as well as Bullie-Running round the grass to help churn it up... Its been such fun!
Mum's been taking us down the woods - We love it!!

Welcome to my blog

Hi my name is Brugan and i'm a 6 year old male Bull Terrier. I live with my human Mummy Helen and my two sisters - Kerris - a little 13 year old black crossbreed and Drama who's a 18 month old Bull Terrier.

We live in Fareham which is near Portsmouth in the south of England.

My Mum adopted me just over a year ago through Bullies in Need which is a Bull Terrier rehoming charity in the UK. My Mum is a volunteer for them.

Before I lived with my Mum I had a sad little life. I wasn't allowed in the house and I had to sleep in a outhouse. My skin was very sore and my eyes very bad.

My Mum took me straight away to see a vet who diagnosed me with dry eye - My eyes don't make tears. My Mum has to put drops in my eyes every few hours so I can see properly.

I was put on antibiotics, steroids and given a special shampoo for my skin... My Mum gave me all these regulary for several months but my skin got worse rather than better.
She kept taking me back to the vets who upped the medication to no avail... I just kept getting redder and more itchier. I got more creams including steroid cream and had loads of diet changes and special foods.

Mum wasn't happy she took me to see another vet who arranged for me to have skin scrapings - It turned out I had mites and the steroids had been making it worse!!! By this time I was so red, bald and sad my Mum used to cry when she looked at me.

I was given a special shampoo called Aludex - which smells like paint stripper - I hate it! and also drops for the back of my neck called Advocate which I have every month.

The lovely people on the Bullie Bar gave my Mum so much advice and reccomended Herbal Medicine for me.

My Mum also phoned up Herbaticus which sells herbal medicine for dogs... I take lots of these herbal tablets each day and they help my fur grow back and stop my coat being so itchy.

I also had a natural cream called Bob Grass (boy did that smell and taste horrible!!) and white dog blood tablets which cooled the inflamation down... I dont need these now but they helped alot when I was very bad!

I still have the Aludex, Advocate and Herbaticus treatments and I look and feel a different dog now!!

I have fur now and my energy has come back... I'm still a bit red in places but each week I look better.

I run around now like a proper Bullie and play with Kerris and Drama in the garden. I love my walks now and love to chase my ball.

My life has changed so much... I sleep in my Mum's bed at night with her cuddled up under the duvet, I have yummy fresh meals twice a day and lots of walks, games and cuddles.

I'm going to write in my Blog each week so everyone knows what were getting up too.
